apartment foreclose

I pay $1650 a month. From the beginning, my landlord has been pretty shady. He has me deposit the rent in his savings account. He is foreclosing on 4 properties and I think he is being charged with embezzlement. I am worried that I will not get my security deposit back and I found out he hasn’t paid mortgage on the place for about 4 months. Any advice?

Talk to a good real estate lawyer about what is going on and see if you can get some answers this way. Also talk to the police about the situation .

If the owner is being foreclosed on you will need to protect your security deposit. Also be sure when you make your rental payment it is with a check.
You can however if you feel very uncomfortable place your rent into a escrow account to be held for payment.
But talk it over with a real estate attorney

You probably will not get your deposit back. You can sue him for it but if he has already foreclosed on 4 other properties then he probably does not have any money (his or yours). I doubt it would be worth the court fees to try.

It is best to cut your losses and move on. That guy is a loser.
