Here is my situation… I’ve lived in my apartment for 4 years and paying month to month for the last year…. then it was sold as a condo to a guy but we continued to just pay our rent to him..A foreclosure guy came to my apartment and told us that the landlord hasn’t been paying mortgage for 7 months. The craziest thing is we NEVER talked to this guy or can get in touch with him. He turned his phone off and his address is not working because everything gets sent back to us (the address we send our rent check is his mortgage broker and he said he is not contracted with him anymore. He never cashed June’s rent check. We decided to move out August 1st but we aren’t sending a rent check to him for July because we need the money to move into our new place. What would you do in my situation. Do you think we will get in trouble. Also, we never signed any contract or lease with this guy. Again, we never even met him or spoke to him. We think he is just a scam artist and moved outta the U.S.

go to the housing authority , also show the bank that you have been making rent payments on they cany kick you out with out giving a couple of month notice , but your right dont make anymore rent payments !
You made a good faith effort to make payments. Since you have no idea what’s going to happen and your landlord hasn’t been in touch with you, I would keep your June and July rent money for your move and move on.
Good luck.
