After we signed our lease last may, our landlord decided to tell us he has the house for sale. We were mad enough that we were deceived, but now he is showing the apartment all of the time. He told us originally he would only be showing it on Saturdays, now he shows it any time he wants…most times without even 24 hours notice. What are our rights as tenants in Chicago?

Remind him that he needs to give you 24 hours notice and ask him to make sure that the MLS mentions that fact clearly.
People want to rent an appartment in Chicago?
You need to be given 24 hrs notice and it must be during a reasonable time. You do not need to give access to the property if he have not given you notice.
Also, note that the lease survives the sale so you do not have to move out when it is sold.
The landlord needs to give 24 hours notice. The only time that he can enter your apartment without prior notice is if there is an emergency.
Unless there is a local Chicago ordinance, Illinois law does not require the landlord to give any type of notice to enter the property unless it’s written within the lease.
He can show it as often as he wants, but he must give you 24 hours notice
chicago has its own residential landlord/tenant ordinance. it states (in section 5-12-050) that the landlord must give 2 days notice before entering your apartment.
