Apartments in Lignano: Origin and Development

Lignano Sabbiadoro is a well-known seaside resort located on the Upper Adriatic Sea, but its origin is recent.

In 2003 the city was only 100 and during this little time, Lignano changed itself from barren land to important tourist bathing establishment, that attract a lot of tourists.

At the beginning 1900 Lignano has only a beautiful golden sandy beach and a blooming pinewood, but the wood obstruct the access to the shore. The only way to reach the future seaside resort, is by boats from the near Marano Lagoon.

During the years different state and private initiatives allow the building of some lines of communication, permitting the access also by land to the seaside resort.

Thanks to the new lines of communications, in this period rise the first accommodation facilities, such as little hotels and refreshment stands to satisfy tourist-pioneers.

The life of the seaside resort begins slowly and with difficult, but after few years rich families of neighbouring towns, such as Udine and Palmanova, build residential properties as well as apartments in Lignano, to spend the summer season on the beach.

The real building and tourist boom assails the town in the fifties and continues for more than fifteen years.

In few time Lignano Sabbiadoro changes totally aspect: to lodge the big tourist streams, the resort fills up with accommodation facilities, especially with flats.

Different blocks of flats rise in Sabbiadoro, the historical centre of the city, instead a lot of little and comfortable villas and apartments are located in Pineta, the new area of Lignano, characterized by the quiet green pinewood.

This dizzy and often uncontrolled growth continues until the end of the sixties, building the modern aspect of Lignano rich of different flats and real-estate agencies.

At the beginning of the seventies Lignano knows a stabilization period: tourist streams reduce and, consequently, also the building of accommodation facilities and of agencies.

The majority of accommodation facilities, built after the second world war, have been modernized in these last period to be abreast of the times and to better answer to tourists needs.

For this reason some agencies in Lignano decide to keep a smaller quantity of apartments and residences taking better care of accommodation facilities and offering to tourists a better product.

An example is a long-lived agency in Lignano: the Bèlanger real-estate agency.

It was set in 1969 and today works in selling, buying and letting holiday flats as well as residential properties.

Good quality and renewal are, in fact, result of the italian trend: a smaller quantity of accommodation facilities in exchange for a better quality and additional services.

For this reason the Bèlanger agency decided to renew its apartments in Lignano and also to offer to tourists some beach-front flats for the next summer, allowing an easier access to the sea and to public services located in the city centre.

The value for money is becoming very important also in the tourist area, because guests give money in exchange for high quality and good additional services.

Following this trend Lignano must pay attention to accommodation facilities and tourist offers renewal, so that to reflect guests needs.
