Read carefully, this is very important to know, and i wish i had known it when i went to study there:
-It depends on the area you decide to rent. For example, Orchard and Holland Village are extremely expensive areas, whereas the East and North (Woodlands) are the cheapest. Most of times, it’s not worthy paying more for a certain location, the accesses are the most important.
- if you intend to get a car, don’t rent a condo in the main areas. You will get better quality for the same or less money if you stay a bit away from the fuss.Singapore is small. but that is, if you will have a car. The MRT is rather slow.
-A good appartment in condo can cost you from 800usdollads- 1300usdollars per month. if you want, you can also find 5 times more expensive, but you will realize it wasn’t worthy.
Check the facilities carefully. I give you this link which helped me to decide on the condo when i studied in singapore:
for example, this condo if it were in cenral area would cost 20%more at least. It has lists with pictures and details on most condos, including if it has gym, sauna, jacuzzi, etc.
- Be careful not to be decieved. First, get to Singapore, stay in a hotel, and go see the appartments in which you are interested. Don’t rush to choose before you are there! And don’t rush to say yes!
- Try renting to the landlord directly, you will spare more money, and doesn’t mean you will get less than you expect. For that, check the newspapers, a good google search, and use the 2 links im giving you to check details on the condos to see if they interest you.
- There are more real estate agents in Singapore than teachers. And they will try to make the best for themselves and the landlord. So don’t trust everyone, and see things with your own eyes. And negociate!
- Finally, remember Singapore is very hot, and conditions island-wide are uneaven. Just because the condo looks nice in the pictures, it doesn’t mean it wont be an overheated boring apartment despite all aircons etc. So go to the apartment and see for yourself.
As a last thing:.
When you see an add you like for a condo, or if you get in the hands of an agent, dont check only the pictures and details of properties of the first link. Check also the exact location and ammenities around in this one, streetdirectory.
Best of luck, and hope all this will help you^^
That depends on the locations. If you are keen, let me know. I’ll explain more to you
