I signed a fixed term lease back in May, the term was May-July 2010. It is now September and I have not received my copy of the lease, when I asked why I was told by management that the corporate office has not yet signed them? Is that appropriate to wait 5 months for my landlord to sign their end of the lease agreement?

Not ethical, but not illegal either, unless they refuse to admit they have a contract with you.
In the future, when you sign something, demand a copy at the time of signing or don’t sign. That way you are assured no alterations or omissions are made.
i never got anything from my last apartment in terms of a copy of a lease
they don’t have to give it to you you just have to read it and sign it
